Welcome to Douglas Farmer Photography

Greetings from British Columbia Canada. Home to some of the most spectacular photographic gems on the planet. Here you’ll find an eclectic mix of urban and nature photography that captures the supernatural beauty of Canada’s most westward province.

Signed and numbered prints of my work are available for purchase and are limited to no more than 11 copies. Each reprint includes an embossed certificate of authenticity and is printed on acid-free archival paper for the best colour rendition and longevity.

I’m Doug Farmer and I’ve been passionate about photography ever since I was 11. 1968 was the year before humans landed on the Moon and that year my dad, another passionate photographer, finally relented to my months of never-ending pestering and nervously lent me his twin-reflex large-format camera. Loaded with a fresh roll of Kodak black and white film, no clue as to what I was doing but with limitless curiosity, my photographic adventure began. A month later, with even more trepidation, he gave me his permission to set up my first darkroom in the family’s second bathroom.

In the words of Humphrey Bogart at the end of the classic film ‘Casablanca’, it was the start of a beautiful friendship.

It’s been an amazing journey since then, and with the arrival of consumer-level digital cameras in 1999, my passion exploded.

Before there was such a thing as a selfie, I snapped one of my first, shown on the left, with my temperamental 1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera.

You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram and subscribe to receive my regular blog posts below. Like you, I hate spam and will never sell or share your e-mail address with anyone.

I acknowledge that I live, play, and create on the unceded territory of the sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people on Turtle Island.

Thanks for visiting and don’t hesitate to contact me.
